Amazon’s latest results raise a question that matters more than a busy earnings headline: when does growth turn into cash shareholders can keep?
| +39%AWS quarterly revenue growth | −$42.4bnTrailing 12-month free cash flow |
In results released on 29 October, group revenue reached $201.9bn, up 12%. Operating margin was 13.9%. Yet the company expects roughly $220bn of cash capital spending this year.
Two stories. One investment.
Our interpretation: demand supports the business case, but it does not answer the entry-price question. A capacity build-out only creates lasting value if utilisation, margins and cash returns justify its cost.
For investors, the useful watchlist is short: cloud demand, capital spending discipline and a believable route back to positive free cash flow. A share-price dip alone would not resolve those questions.
